Book(s)

An eBook-afficionado has hidden behind a door for some quiet 5 minutes in her virtual library:

Is this the future? Sony has become a sponsor of this years' Hay Festival and is displaying its e-reader in a special corner. Seeing that e-readers give people access to a huge amount of totally free books whilst (arguably) providing a more agreeable reading experience than the computer this is an interesting move. Quite a few self-publishing sites have sprung up on the internet and widespread use of e-readers might weaken the role of publishers altogether.

A good collection of books can be found at TNchicks .

Aloha!
Very good question... I think it is the way of the future. e-books--the very first one I've seen here on PH today.
Happy photo hunting to you

Fantastic photo and very original. Can't see me getting into ebooks though!

I love flipping and smelling each page of a book. But I wouldn't mind free e-books. I actually read some popular books through e-book sharing.

Is this anything like the "Kindle" Reader? Great photo.

Mine this week is my high school year book with me...LOL

Happy weekend.

I was waiting in vain for Sinclair to do this back at the beginning of the eighties. Would have been more sense than the wee bike-thing even if that was a brave effort.

With the emphasis on "greening", the conservation of paper may yet bring us there. But there is something very solid about holding a book in your hand. This is a great photo!

Thanks for stopping by!

It's a great shot, but I'm just not convinced about readers yet. On the one hand, it would make an awful lot more material easily available to those (like me) who live in non-English speaking markets, but I just can't see curling up on the couch with an electronic gadget providing the same "lose yourself in a book" experience that plain old paper does.

Perhaps one day I'll try one out and see for myself if I can be persuaded.

Wonderful photo! I agree with Robin about the book experience - there is something special about a 'proper' book.

eating and reading.....they just seem to go hand in hand. nice shot. the eco friendly part of me says yes to ebooks but i'd miss the real deal.

My brother travels a lot for his work. He spends several weeks in different apartments, different countries and he loves to read for his off days and travel days. Sometimes he buys books and leaves them in the apartments after he is done. Books are heavy and the electronic reader would be a great help to him.. he could have books without the additional luggage weight! My books are up here.
