The channel is hardly a pristine bit of water, but I love it - once a month the ferry takes me over to the continent where I can dance till I drop and hang out with all my tango-friends:
I like this photo with its shapes and colours. Glad not to have to look the other way. I remember being disappointed when I first saw the white cliffs. Thought they looked very grubby. (The ones further along, in Purbeck, are much brighter.)
Funny how the image of the cliffs is so strong that one can't hear the word 'Dover' without them looming into the mind set. I'm wondering how one would have viewed this picture if you hadn't said where it was taken. I think I would have looked at it with clearer eyes and would have enjoyed it even more.
I started my working life as a film maker. Then I began to feel useless and became a scientist instead. I love my new job but I can't give up cameras completely. Now I have accumulated so many photos that they're quite squashed in their digital box - so please click on them for instant liberation. If you want to know what cameras I use you have to click to see the complete profile.

Fascinating - the white rocks look like clouds - so white! Like ghosts! One of the very best I've seen on your blog!
I've heard the weather over the Channel can be quite iffy but the ferry looks strong and safe. ;-)
I love the welcoming arms of the harbour wall, once inside, there is safe keeping.
This photo makes me think of holidays and that lovely anticipation feeling.
That's a great shot Bim, just love it. Thank you!
Perfect shot to begin a story or to end one.
Magical!
It almost looks as if you were left behind, and you're looking longingly at the ferry as it sails farther and farther away! Beautiful colors...
