monochrome thistle

For some reason I didn't find any black and white models for some weeks - until this thistle came along:

It's like a vortex at the centre! I always smile when I see thistles; they remind me of the story behind the scottish emblem which involves a hardened Viking sitting on one!

Superb photograph and stunning when enlarged. Flower structures are so complex and full of so many shapes and textures.
