It's like a vortex at the centre! I always smile when I see thistles; they remind me of the story behind the scottish emblem which involves a hardened Viking sitting on one!
I started my working life as a film maker. Then I began to feel useless and became a scientist instead. I love my new job but I can't give up cameras completely. Now I have accumulated so many photos that they're quite squashed in their digital box - so please click on them for instant liberation. Don't think I have ever mono'ed a thistle. Works beautifully to bring out those textures.
It almost looks like one of the sea anenomies.Very nice shot!
To prick the imagination.
I think of Fibonacci.
Nice monochrome!
What a beauty i think it looks better this way than it would in color
I'm glad you found it - a new and interesting way to look at a thistle.
It is absolute art! The creator sure knew geometry!
Ouch.....:-)
Works well good shot....
It really draws your eye right down into its center, doesn't it. Marvelous.
Great angle - works well in monochrome.
The thistle make a great black and white subject.
Interesting how the barbs stand out in monochrome.
Very elegant.
Nice one. Looks good.
Re comment: I simply don't remember!
Superb photograph and stunning when enlarged. Flower structures are so complex and full of so many shapes and textures.
Interesting shot ...super macro, tho personally I would have stepped back just a bit to see more of the shape
How well you have captured the thistle's tiny needles.
Very cool. I like the perfection of nature.
